We have children killing children,
People fighting to survive,
Babies having babies,
That is, those they keep alive.

A teenager kills it's newborn,
And stuffs it in the trash,
Kids selling drugs on corners,
For a little "extra cash"

Seems they're afraid to go to school,
It is no longer fun,
They're looking over their shoulder,
To see if "Johnny" has a gun.

Where is this world headed?
Where did we go wrong?
Yes, we can blame the video games,
And the lyrics to a song!

But these have only added fuel,
To an already burning fire,
Look further back and you will see,
The kindling was lit prior.

When prayer was taken from the schools,
It was soon replaced by guns,
Permissiveness replaced discipline,
THAT's when it came undone.

Children were taught material things,
Were more important than any other,
They weren't taught respect for authority,
And that included Dad and Mother.

Then simple shows like "Beaver",
My three sons and Happy Days,
Gave way to "Final Conflict",
And Devil dolls like "Child's Play".

"Officer Friendly" soon became a joke,
As kids were taught to fear,
The arrival of a police car,
'Stead of thinking "help is here"

It isn't any one thing,
That brought us to this place,
But we can't just stop the world,
And make it do an about-face.

So we must start with things we know,
And put our house in order,
Before we can ever, even hope
To solve all this disorder.

So parents, teachers, counselors,
Grandparents, friends and neighbors,
Knock down those walls, let kindness in,
Put down your swords and sabers.

Think twice before you speak or act,
If they're to do the things they ought,
Your actions speak as loud as words,
And hatred must be taught.

Teach your kids the golden rule,
With both love and discipline ample,
Put prayer and God in your home and schools,
And teach them ..... BY EXAMPLE !
